ScanStation 500: overkill for compulsive industrial-class scanner addicts

Kodak enables businesses to take the next step in information technology with a new networked scanning device that helps improve workplace productivity and assists in reducing operating costs. The KODAK Scan Station 500 redefines smart technology through its combination of performance, functionality and reliability. Customers can shorten the time required to process information with the Scan Station 500’s ability to efficiently manage and deliver documents through email, fax, network routing and integrated workflow capabilities.

The Scan Station 500, equipped with Kodak’s exclusive Voice Attachment feature, allows users to send audio messages with personalized comments or instructions along with scanned images to ensure clear communications. An eight inch LCD color touch screen provides programmable shortcuts and an intuitive graphical user interface further enhancing the Scan Station 500’s focus on ease of use.

“With the touch of a button, users can easily send high quality images of scanned documents to multiple destinations simultaneously, including network drives, FTP sites, printers, email, fax and portable USB drives,” said Webster. “Now they can even send a personalized voice message with those images.”

The Scan Station 500’s robust design provides exceptional paper handling and many image enhancing features designed to help end users extract information from a variety of documents. Equipped with a 75 sheet feeder and a daily duty cycle of 1,500 scans, the Scan Station 500 provides 200 dots per inch color duplex scanning at up to 30 pages per minute. The Scan Station 500 also utilizes Kodak’s exclusive Perfect Page Image Processing Technology to enhance the integrity and accuracy of digital information captured from paper documents.

The KODAK Scan Station 500, a walk-up scanning device, provides businesses with a highly versatile solution for capturing and sharing document-based information quickly and efficiently. With several output methods including scan to network share drive, print, email, fax, portable USB drive and FTP sites, the Scan Station 500 makes it easy for anyone to share information across their business workflow.

Tethered A3 or A4 flatbed scanners and a tactile keyboard are among the available accessories.

The standalone scanner integrates user friendly software, displayed on an eight inch LCD color touch screen, with a powerful document capture platform, capable of 200 dpi color duplex scanning at up to 30 pages per minute. The Scan Station 500 captures images with pinpoint accuracy through its use of Kodak’s Perfect Page Image Processing Technology to ensure the highest level of scanning quality. The KODAK Scan Station 500 will be exclusively available through CDW from March 9 through April 10. The feature rich scanner also offers:

  • Exclusive Voice Attachment feature to send recipients audio files with scanned images
  • Internal fax modem
  • Ultrasonic multi feed detection
  • Content based blank page removal
  • Output resolutions: 75, 100, 150, 200, 240, 300, 400, 600 and 1200 dpi
  • Tethered A3 or A4 flatbed scanners and tactile keyboard accessories available
  • File output options: Single and multipage TIFF, JPEG, PDF, text searchable PDF, encrypted PDF, optional JPEG compressed TIFF

    The Scan Station 500 provides robust paper handling capabilities of up to 1,500 documents per day with an automatic document feeder. It handles up to 75 sheets of paper of various thickness and weights, as well as sizes from identification (ID) cards to documents as long as 34 inches.

    To secure the use of digital information, the Scan Station 500 is equipped with:
  • PDF private key encryption
  • Enable/disable scan to portable USB drives
  • Secure login via LDAP
  • Activity logging based on login ID

    Notable Solutions, Inc. (NSi) AUTOSTORE Software is available as an option for Scan Station 500 customers.

    Additionally, the KODAK Scan Station 520EX is available for ISV integration. The KODAK Scan Station 500 will be available at Forefront Technologies from April 2009.
