Fujitsu Europe Limited a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, has introduced the Fujitsu fi-6140 and fi-6240 color, duplex scanners into its award-winning line of document imaging products. The new high-performance scanners continue the Fujitsu tradition of providing the workgroup scanning market with unmatched scanning performance and ease of use at a highly competitive price.

The new Fujitsu fi-6140 and fi-6240 (flatbed model) scanners integrate the latest innovative scanning features and applications, including an advanced document feeding system for superior paper handling, automatic ultrasonic intelligent multi-feed detection technology, long document scanning support (up to 10 feet), improved embossed card scanning capability (such as credit cards and insurance cards) and continuous feeding of up to three hard cards through its 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF). The new high performance Fujitsu scanners also deliver fast scanning speeds of 60 pages per minute (ppm) / 120 images per minute (ipm) at 200dpi monochrome and grayscale, and best-in-class speed of 40 ppm / 80 ipm at 300dpi full color, providing uncompromised speed and performance with the advantage of higher image quality for increased OCR accuracy.

The advanced paper feeding technology incorporated into the Fujitsu fi-6140/fi-6240 scanners reduces document preparation time. The ultrasonic double feed detection function automatically detects when two pages are simultaneously fed through the scanner, but can also be programmed to detect intentional double-feeds like post-it notes or taped receipts and bypass those anomalies so future scanned batches are not interrupted. The paper protection feature puts users at ease with its ability to protect valuable documents by immediately stopping the scanning process when it recognizes that a jam is about to occur.

In addition to offering best-in-class functionality and value, Fujitsu also leads the industry with unparalleled software bundles for its scanners. The Fujitsu fi-6140 and fi-6240 scanners are bundled with Adobe® Acrobat® 8.0 Standard, ScandAll Pro V1.5 for improved document imaging processing and productivity, and Kofax VirtualReScan® (VRS) 4.1 Professional automated document image-enhancement software. The addition of VRS 4.1 Professional software provides users with more robust image enhancement capabilities that further reduce the need for manual intervention in the scanning process and offers them a powerful suite of intelligent color image processing features, including automatic orientation, blank page removal and background saturation and color detection. Furthermore, the new Advanced Clarity feature is now available to combat the most challenging documents. Advanced Clarity offers more image quality options and the ability to process documents that were once considered impossible to process due to noisy backgrounds. These new elements allow users to maximize scanning time and process more images without human intervention.
