Operating principles
The PalmSecure™
sensor developed by Fujitsu is a biometric authentication solution offering
optimum levels of security. PalmSecure detects the structure of the pattern of
veins on the palm of the human hand with the utmost precision. The sensor emits
a near-infrared beam towards the palm of the hand and the blood flowing through
these back to the heart with reduced oxygen absorbs this radiation, causing the
veins to appear as a black pattern. This pattern is recorded by the sensor and
is stored in encrypted form in a database, on a token or on a smart card.
Product Solutions
The PalmSecure™
sensor is a biometric component requiring integration into a system solution or
application by an OEM or system integrator. Fujitsu can provide in addition to
the PalmSecure™ sensor a hand-guide and USB connection cable. The
template library is included with the API programming software. In the near
future, Fujitsu will offer optional software called PalmSign. PalmSign is authentication
software, which can be used for high security level login applications. To
simplify integration for an access control system solutions, Fujitsu can
recommend a small form factor, single voltage, fanless Eden processor based adaptor board.
The Fujitsu
PalmSecure™ captures the hand's vein pattern using near infrared light
and based on over 25 years of experience in the image recognition and
processing technology.
PalmSecure™ can
be implemented within a wide range of markets, including security, government,
healthcare, financial/banking, commercial enterprises and educational
facilities. The Fujitsu PalmSecure™ is best for high-security, multi-user
applications such as:
·
Security systems: Physical access
control
·
Security systems: Time and Attendance
·
Log-in control: User authentication
to PCs or server systems & ID verification
·
Healthcare - ID verification for
medical equipment, electronic record management, etc.
·
Government / Commercial: identity management
systems
·
Financial services - ATM, kiosks, vault
access, etc.
·
OEM terminal devices (POS, ATMs or information
kiosks)
·
Other industry-specific applications
Benefits:
·
Difficult to forge
·
Contactless, hygienic and non-invasive
·
Highly accurate
·
Capable of 1:1 and 1:many matching
PalmSecure™ SDK
The PalmSecure SDK is a
software development kit (SDK) for developing solutions and products that use
the PalmSecure sensor.
·
Supporting efficient development
o
The SDK contains all the hardware and software
required for development, and a complete set of all documentation.
o
Furthermore, questions that arise during
development can be answered quickly using the dedicated website.
·
Developing products using new ideas
o
The SDK makes it possible to develop a variety
of newly envisioned products that utilize palm vein authentication. Palm vein
authentication technology can also be integrated into existing applications.
The
SDK contains the following hardware, software, and documentation.
